What do you do when Mum's mobile phone rings at the beach? You go over to Grandma's and sulk.

This book is seriously modern and is certainly a reminder to all working people not to take their phones to the beach.

When Emily arrives at her Grandma's she is in tears. But with a lot of imagination Grandma transforms her back garden into a beach. They fish in the paddling pool. They make sandcastles in between the well spread out vegetable beds. They get wet under Grandma's hose and dry off by the sunflowers in lawn chairs. She makes fish and chips for lunch and Grandma dresses up and gives Emily rides on her back.

The moral of the story is don't give in to disappointment. Things don't always turn out as you expect them to. Make the best and it could become the best.

Rosalind's drawings are a lot of fun. Emily has a terrific bumble bee striped bathing costume and green starfish glasses. Her cat has the same red hair colour as she does. The two, though years apart in age, share the same smile and enthusiasm for the days events.

The book is a reminder how much fun Grandmas with time on their hands can be.
