Carle Honors Art Auction Opening Reception September 10, 2009 5:00 - 7:00 pm
You are cordially invited to Books of Wonder
for the debut of this year's Carle Honors Art Auction to benefit The
Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art. Join artists Mo Willems, Maira
Kalman, and Giselle Potter for wine, cheese, and a sneak peek at
eighteen original works and the first annual Carle Honors Poster.
Donated by these esteemed artists as well as Chris Van Allsburg, Eric
Carle, Tomie dePaola,
David Kirk, David Macaulay, and more, these fine works are on public
display for the first time ever before the live event.
A
social gathering hosted by Peter Glassman, from Books of Wonder, and
Alexandra Kennedy, executive director of The Carle, this event is free

Honors Benefit Gala and Awards Ceremony. Join us in honoring the
ingenuity of individuals who are dedicated to the art of the picture
book and its integral role in fostering art appreciation, early
literacy, and critical thinking. This year's honorees are Alice
Provensen, Kyle Zimmer, Walter Lorraine, and Blouke and Marianne Carus.
