Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightening Thief
The Lightening Thief is a novel about half bloods. Half bloods are people that have one mortal parent and one godly parent. The main character is Percy Jackson.
In this book, Percy Jackson starts out at Yancy school. He gets kicked out and gets to Half Blood Hill camp. He finds out he is a son of Poseidon. He has to find Zeus's lightening bolt before the summer solstice. He goes with his friend Grover, who is a satyr and Annebeth.
The main characters are bonded. Percy met Grover at Yancy and protected him from bullies. Annabeth nursed Percy back to health when he was attacked by a minotaur. If is set in or near modern times because there are no laser guns or robots. This book is definitely a fictional work. It is most probably a fantasy story. You like Percy because you want to be like him. He is the son of a god.
This book is powerful. You like the characters and feel sympathy and empathy for them. It is an interesting twist on modern life.
Amos has been sprinting through these books as he did The Gregor the Overlander Series and
Pendragon (although the Pendragon books are longer and more complicated).
